I have not touched the files in /lib/firmware/brcm. I have an essentially vanilla 19.04 install, i.e. The file that comes with 19.04 is 1120971 bytes, but the one from the cited thread is 943184 bytes. Small comment: the Installing Broadcom Drivers thread supplies a different /lib/firmware/brcm/brcmfmac4366c-pcie.bin file than the one that comes with Ubuntu 19.04. Unfortunately, upgrading did not seem to fix the problem. I performed the upgrade to 19.04 last week. This thread suggests the Asus card is managed correctly in Ubuntu 19.04. After the update, the wifi connection would get dropped every few minutes (or hours), requiring an off/on cycle ("Turn Off" / "Turn On" in the drop-down wifi menu) to reconnect. A little history: I was running Ubuntu 18.04 until recently, and the Asus card was working fine, until a kernel upgrade maybe two or three weeks ago.
